Open Canvas: a night in aid of Art Refuge UK

open

November 29th | Whelan’s Upstairs Venue | €10 |

At a time in history where countries’ borders seem all the more prevalent and the refugee crises reaching an all time high, Common Grounds Collective are showcasing a night of music, live painting, poetry and dance.
This night is entirely in aid of Art Refuge UK, a charity that provides psychological aid for refugee populations through art and art therapy.

On the night we are delighted to have..
Music from Alannah Thornburgh, LemonCello, Hatchlings and Rofi James.
Poetry from Aaron Nolan and Alice Kinsella.
Live Painting from Rebecca Deegan – Artist, Karen Garvin-Kane, LW Art
Dancing from Megan O’Brien
And more to be announced!

Throughout the night, the room will become an ‘open canvas’, that is, a welcoming artistic space where both the audience and performers alike will be invited to create messages of solidarity for the displaced people of the current refugee crisis, through the mediums of art, craft, written word and video.
These messages in turn will be collected and forwarded onto an online platform visible to refugees, and we hope to send physical copies to the people in difficulty in refugee camps to show our support.

This will be a truly special and unique night, one we have been working very hard to put together.
If for any reason you cannot make the event, donations can be made here which will go directly to Art Refuge UK:
